A writer for StokedGamer.com has put up an interesting article comparing Ubisoft’s version of Africa in their upcoming game Far Cry 2, to the real Africa that most of our Lazygamer readers see and experience for themselves.
The author if from the US but lived in Johannesburg and Pretoria for two years of his life, doing quite a bit of travelling it seems. He compares not only the visuals and atmosphere of the game, but also its outlook and the political struggles that Africa faces everyday.
As Africans ourselves, its interesting to read something like this and just realise where we are sometimes. He has also included a couple of photos as well as screenshots and concept art of the game for some comparison.
Check it out here.

Thanks Lazy, cool article. I’m looking forward to Farcry2, and hope that Ubisoft can pull it off as well as Crytek did with the first one. If there is going to be a good African twist on the story even better.

Dammit.
Why is it that whenever I do an article like this people thank Lazy for it… but when I write something that causes controversy then everyone magically knows that I wrote it.
Its a conspiracy.

I wonder if the final boss in Far Cry 2 is going to be Robert Mugabe in a Robotic Suit, just like Hitler at the end of Wolfenstein (or spear of destiny).
That would be awesome!

lol, that would make Robert really mad, and who will care (I would play that final mission 10 000 times :P)
