Free Sims 4 update adds a new neighbourhood

Neighbours is so creepy

I haven’t watched that show in ages, but apparently the old men from Neighbours look the same now as they did when I watched 15 years ago. Sims definitely age faster than that, but not fast enough to turn over houses and get all new residents into the game as quickly as some players would like, which is odd considering how sadistic most players are. Now, you can add a whole bunch of new families/abductees into the mix.

Coming 11 June, Newcrest will be joining Willow Creek and Oasis Springs as worlds waiting for your Sims who are obviously more excited to settle in than the great pioneers. With three new neighbourhoods, each with five empty lots, there’s room for all new houses and families.

In fact, they are even giving us lot sizes in the event that you already want to start building or looking through the gallery to find a new dream house. They are as follows:

  • Two 20×15 plots
  • Six 30×20 plots
  • One 30×30 plot
  • One 40×20 plot
  • Four 40×30 plots
  • One 50×40 plot

And here’s the little teaser for the free update:

This is definitely something that people have been asking for – there needs to be more room to build, move in and have various interactions. Plus, the fact that it’s free is pretty great; I would have (falsely) assumed that EA would use this as an opportunity to nickel and dime players with DLC, but offering this for free is a very nice gesture. While some people might moan that this should have been included in the game at the start, (I mean, how hard is it to make a new neighbourhood) I think this is still a cool free little something from EA for Sims 4 fans.

They couldn’t add pools for release day, how the hell would they manage an entire neighbourhood? XD

They have to rename them to fire pools first and give the option for reduced insurance claims.

And the upgrade is free if you happen to be the President.

The real question is how they managed to do it for free.
I thought it was very clear in EA’s mission statement: “There will be no freebies, nothing but standard content in the first release and everything that could be sold as a DLC needs to be removed from the base game.”

I know they don’t announce or make a big deal of it – but they release small content for free all the time. Multiplayer packs, some skins and the like. Even their “On The House” promo that rotates a game for free. It’s not always great, but it is always free. And hey, DA:O was once there, as was that horror-survival game with necromorphs and the engineer. The first one.

Yea, I’m just kidding. They do actually give free stuff from time to time.
I actually got three EA games for free on Origin over the years. DA:O being one of them. Dead Space 3 being the other and I think Sim City 2000 as well.

Can’t believe I used to watch the show. Good to know that the whole ‘my console is better than your’s’ was happening back therewith Neighbours is better than Home and Away. Of course the latter was always better because BIKINIS!

I’ll get there. After Witcher 3. And Fallout 4. And a few other backlog games that I HAVE to play soon. The problem isn’t whether I like a game, it’s whether I like it more than all the other options available 🙂

It’s good fun for a few hours here and there between more serious games. I bought it and still enjoy it. 🙂
