I think I’ve made my love for EA’s Dead Space apparent. It filled in the survival horror gap left by Resident Evil’s focus on action, and Silent Hill’s focus on being crap. New footage from Gamescom has me even more excited for the sequel – even if it too will be less of a horror and have a somewhat more action-oriented slant.
In the video after the jump you’ll see footage of some of the zero-gravity gameplay – which has space enginner Isaac darting about in space pretending he’s goddamned Iron Man. My only issue with the footage is that I think I preferred Isaac as a silent protagonist, like Half-Life’s Gordon Freeman. at least he’s voiced by Gunnar Wright, and not the overexposed Nolan North – but I’d still prefer if he kept his mouth shut. Astute viewers will notice it’s being demoed on the PS3, and it looks pretty damned fantastic. Hopefully this’ll be one multiplatform game that’ll avoid having an inferior PS3 port.
Dead Space 2 will release in January for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
