Gears 3 multiplayer could be the beginning of the end

Cliff Bleszinski has been chatting to IGN about Gears of War 3 and why they chose to run with a beta this time.

According to Cliff the reason is simple, they simply can’t screw it up again like they did with Gears of War 2 else the series would more than likely simply cease to exist.

The honesty is actually refreshing and I completely agree with him, I was insanely excited for Gears of War 2 but it just didn’t fulfil the requirements of being an awesome multiplayer experience which is the only reason I really enjoyed Gears of War 1.

Apparently Gears of War 2’s multiplayer is now awesome but I stopped playing that game so long ago I wouldn’t have noticed…

Because if we release Gears 3 and it has the same launch as Gears 2 online then the franchise is dead. So you can’t afford to make that mistake twice, right? And to be fair over the course of the six title updates, we got Gears 2 in a very good position. And we need to take it to great. And that’s what this will help do
