A site called World Gaming News has posted up this image and a whole bunch of details about the Gears 2 Collectors Ed. So what’s inside lets take a look.

Since the details are pretty straightforward, I am going to paste them from the WGN article straight, so here they are:

Sorry, you are going to have to take the jump for all the details. I do however have a few questions on this stories legitimacy.

[Thanks to Flameboy for the tip]

“Beneath the Surface: An Inside Look at Gears of War 2,” a 48-page hardbound book including character profiles, exclusive concept art, and foreword by Design Director Cliff Bleszinski

A Bonus DVD including exclusive making-of-the-game video footage, design galleries with audio commentary by Epic Games, and promotional videos including the E3 2008 trailer, “Rendezvous”

A Dominic and Maria Keepsake Photo

A Exclusive Xbox LIVE code to unlock a gold-plated Lancer Assault Rifle for online play

All in a Steel book DVD case”

Thing is… I don’t know if I trust this. The image is obviously not a photo and has been made as a mock up in a photo, which, as a graphic designer, I have done many times before so it’s easy to spot a few inconsistencies. So it’s with this in mind that I am at the very least doubting whether or not this is the final artwork.

The Disc’s are a little off in their perspective and why in the hell would a promo pic from Epic have such a low res looking image for the photo of Dom and Maria. We will have to wait and see, but like I said, at the very least I don’t think that the image is legit and may have been created by someone after they heard of the details.
