Gears of War 2 patch finally released

1 min read

After quite a lot of moaning and groaning over all of the issues that were being had by Gears of War 2, Epic Games has finally released it’s first major patch that not only fixes tons of bugs and exploits but changes some balancing issues as well.

Amongst other things, they have made firing from the hip possible with the boomshot and more importantly the shotgun, as a previous issue would cause the bullets to shoot straight down for some really odd reason. This ability to fire from the hip will make a lot of old school Gears of War fans happy again but there is a catch.

Epic have also removed the ability to fire your weapon straight after you roadie run, effectively killing the “shotgun rush” ability in every way.

That might be a relief to some but a serious kick in the nads to others.

More after the jump.

This means that all of the people who wanted the pace of the game to be upped somewhat are sitting in pretty much the same position as they were before the patch came out.

Either way they patch fixes a seriously large amount of issues with the multiplayer (most of which really shouldn’t have been there in the first place) and have at least shown that they are listening to their fans.

The list is pretty damn long so instead of posting it here, you can check out the thread on the Epic forums by clicking here.

[Thanks Poddle for the tip]
