Gears of War 3 Beta–What can I unlock?

The Gears of War 3 beta is just around the corner with Epic still planning on starting it up on the 18th of April for those of you who purchased the Bulletstorm Epic Edition.

For those in America, Europe and Australia you can also get into the beta by pre-ordering Gears of War 3 but then your only going to be allowed in from the 25th of April. I am not aware of any local store offering a way into the beta by pre-ordering.

The beta then runs until the 15th of May so Bulletstorm owners are going to get just under a month of Gears goodness…

But what can you earn yourself in that month apart from the street cred of being a cool Gears of War beta playing monster is actually quite a bit.

According to IGN who generally get the inside info on these things you can permanently unlock the following.

Flaming Hammerburst
Complete one match by Sunday, April 24 to permanently unlock.

Flaming Lancer
Complete one match during the week of April 25 to permanently unlock.

Flaming Sawed-Off Shotgun
Complete one match during the week of May 2 to permanently unlock.

Flaming Gnasher Shotgun
Complete one match during the week of May 9 to permanently unlock.

Beta Tester Medal
Complete one match in the Beta to permanently unlock.

Thrashball Cole
Complete 50 matches in any game type to unlock for the Beta period. To permanently unlock, complete 10 matches as Thrashball Cole during the Beta period.

Gold-Plated Retro Lancer
Complete 90 matches in any game type to unlock for the Beta period. To permanently unlock, score 100 kills with the Gold-Plated Retro Lancer during the Beta period.

Now personally I hope you all unlock the Gold-Plated Retro Lancer so that I can see you from further away which will make taking your head off your shoulders just that much easier.

Man I’m looking forward to being vaulting over a mini wall and sticking my shotgun under someone’s chin again… that sploosh sound always made my day.

If you haven’t yet make sure to check out our Gears of War interview that we posted up earlier.
