Get a free game when you buy Mario Kart 8

My excitement for Mario Kart 8 is pretty well known at this point, and I’ll most certainly be picking the thing up on day 1. In a new Mario Kart 8 focused Nintendo direct today, the company revealed that the game will be getting 12 player online multiplayer, voice chat support (so you can tell those people who hit you with blue shells what you did to their mums last night) and user-created tournaments. It’ll also come with a free game.

Yes, that’s right. If you pick up Mario Kart 8 and register it on club Nintendo between May 30 and July 31, you’ll get a voucher to download one of ten pre-selected games for free.  They’re not rubbish games either. Check it out.

I have all but one of those games – and now I’ll be able to get it for nothing. Mario Kart 8 features 30 racers, a bunch of new tracks and new items – including something that can actually destroy the blasted blue shell. The gods have spoken.

Here’s the Mario Kart 8 Nintendo direct.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
