HearthStone expands with the Curse of Naxxramas

Curse-of-Naxxramas

If you haven’t tried it out yet, you’re missing on some damn good fun in the Blizzard card game, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. It’s got a great pace, looks great and is easy to learn. That, and it’s completely free, and is structured in such a way that you actually want to spend real cash on it. And now, Hearthstone (HEARTHSTONE!) is getting bigger.

Announced at (Yes, you guessed it) PAX East, Hearthstone will expand like a waist-line after a Christmas lunch with the Curse Of Naxxramas. According to VG247, the expansion will contain five “unique wings” of the dungeon, new hero powers and a grand total of 30 new cards.

There’ll also be nine class challenges, which will reward players with class-specific cards when completed. Curse of Naxxramas adds even more, in the form of boss battles with characters such as the “over-sized arachnid Maexxna, the fungal horror Loatheb, plague cauldron master Heigan the Unclean, and the shambling abomination Patchwerk.”

The game structure will also vary slightly, as each of the five aforementioned wings will open up on a weekly basis for players. Those wings (Except for the Arachnid Quarter) can be bought with gold that has been earned in-game, or with good ol’ American currency.

The expansion will be released simultaneously on PC, Mac and iPad. There’s no solid release date yet for the Curse of Naxxramas, so you’ll have to be patient. As mentioned above, the game is free on PC right now. I’m personally waiting for the iPad version, which had all the glitz and charm of that game, but like in my hands.

  1. I am so amped for this.

The new Legendary is silly powerful: All Deathrattle affects are doubled….. Oh You have a Cairn Bloodhoof on the field! Here, take 2 4/5 Baine Bloodhoof cards when he dies…..

His stats could be better, and deathrattle needs some amping before he becomes silly, but certainly on my radar with that nerubian egg and any other possible newcomers. Just don’t pair him with the dancing swords…

Indeed. A few people were talking about using it for early Golem rush, but there are just to many board clears around turn 4 for this to be viable.

Not my favourite game, but definitely something I play when I have nothing better to do. Some of the heroes are just plain useless in my hands, but Jaina plays really lekker

The amount of time and money needed to actually play this game totally ruins it for me… Just like Magic The Gathering… =/

Easier to run it digitally though. Must say Blizzard was smart to get in on this!

To be honest I value my time even more really, but it became evident really quickly that a kid with their mom’s credit card, google for strats and good drawing luck would be the opponent of choice.

So I rage-quit (after finishing the match of course.) out of the game and will probably never play again.

There are actually lots of decks you can compete with that don’t cost a dime.

Trump streams F2P ladder climbs, with decks that are laughable cheap for being as high as he is on the ladder. We’re talking mostly basics and commons, that being said you’re probably not good enough to do that, but don’t blame your cardpool for your short fallings.

But I want to blame other things than myself for not being able to play this digital card collecting game that is inevitably a gross waste of money and time properly QQ

They always had the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, guess they needed something new after they ended the card game with the Timewalkers: Reign of Fire set

They’ve had hearthstone before WoWTCG closed off their final set, I believe it was disenfranchised to simply make more room for a card game set in a world of warcraft universe in the market, rather than have a split playerbase.
