Hearthstone gets its first new hero… its entirely cosmetic

MAGNI

Yesterday, Blizzard teased a brand new hero for Hearthstone. I thought that it might be a whole new class, while others speculated that it would be a purely cosmetic addition. Let’s just say that my predictions are as accurate as my love for broccoli. Hint: I HATE VEGETABLES (even cabbage… yuck).

The first new hero being added to Heathstone serves as an alternate to the Warrior Class. For only $9.99, players will gain access to Magni Bronzebeard, the mighty king of Ironforge. Here’s what he comes with:

Aside from the vibrant new Hero portrait artwork, these new Heroes also come with unique Hero power animations. Magni’s version of the Warrior’s “Armor Up!” Hero Power is sure to reinforce the fact that his majesty is not to be trifled with!

New Heroes also come with unique emotes and voices that convey their individual personalities, a play area featuring a custom visual theme, and nifty “entering the game” animations so you can greet (or intimidate) your next opponent in style.

If that wasn’t enough, new Heroes also come with a unique card back that will impress even the mightiest of dwarven kings! The steadfast “Magni” card back is added to your collection immediately after purchasing the Magni Bronzebeard Hero, and can be used with any deck of your choice.

Card

I am no stranger to cosmetics. I blew $10 on Dota 2 this morning as a matter of fact (judge away, my firewall will keep me safe). Were I a big enough Hearthstone player, I don’t think I would have any problem splashing out cash on Magni.

I wonder how fans will receive this news though. Were they, like me, expecting an entirely new class when they saw the teaser yesterday? Were they maybe expecting a new campaign? If that’s the case, this news must come as pretty disappointing.

Even if that’s the case, it won’t change the fact that others will gladly buy these alternate skins. Would you?

    Hearthstone’s DLC “dwarfs” other games.

Nope, I’ll be willing to spend money on more deck slots (which isn’t for sale), but not on this.
