Hitman benefits from a refined and subtle bump in quality on the PS4 Pro

Hitman-Pro

Hitman, the only game released this year where you can kill a person via poisoned pasta, is a damn fine-looking title. While the character models are servicable, it’s the locations and technical level of digital wizardry that shine bright in Hitman. While a level like the Paris Showstopper event may boast an unreal number of NPCs to move through, stages such as the Himmapan Hotel make use of that engine grunt to paint its scenery in the most gorgeous lights and colours possible.

Really, Hitman is a visually charming experience. So how does it run on the PS4 Pro then? Much better, if you’re paying attention that is. In a new video from Digital Foundry, the experts there put Agent 47 through his paces, uncovering numerous subtle improvements to the experience. Here’s the video to watch:

If you can’t watch the video above, here’s the gist of it. “Most of the other changes on display here are of the highly subtle variety however, making it very difficult to pick up any changes at all,” Digital Foundry explained.

Texture filtering is certainly improved, likely due to the increased resolution while some smaller details tend to exhibit some higher quality textures. It all looks great, but just don’t expect anything significant in terms of changes. This is still very much the Hitman that you know. Not that there’s a lot to complain about there, since the game actually does look good on both machines.

So at this point then, we basically have a higher resolution, more refined details and faster loading on the Pro.

There’s obviously a lot more to this test, but it’s nice to see that a good-looking game on the PS4 Pro focused on areas that would create a better impression without players even realising it. Or breaking the game in the process. That’s rather swell. Hitman’s full season is out right now, and on special on several digital storefronts. I super-duper recommend giving it a go.

If you can’t point and shout ‘LOOK LOOK!” then you’re doing it right.
