At Comic-Con today Frank O’Connor, content manager of Halo for Microsoft, confirmed that when we finished the fight in Halo 3 we didn’t really finish the fight.
No really if you can believe it Microsoft are still planning on squeezing more life out of the biggest console FPS of all time, that one that doesn’t appear to be slowing down at all and is probably the biggest (American) release of the year.
According to Frank,
At the end of Halo 3, and cover your ears if you haven’t played it, Master Chief is in cryosleep. Cortana has sent a rescue signal, and they are orbiting a strange world. We’d have to be the world’s biggest assholes to not follow through on his story.
So that’s that… Frank also announced the first hardware easter egg in console history.
Okay so maybe it can’t really be classified as an easter egg as such since you can’t not notice it pretty much instantly but Microsoft has added a little extra into the limited edition Halo Reach console that is being released.
When you first unpack, plugin and turn on your new limited editin Halo Reach you will be greeted by the Invisibility power-up sound from Halo, this happens everytime you push the start button and when you hit eject you’ll hear the shield charging sound.
It’s gimmicky and useless but still pretty cool for serious Halo fans.
