Witcher 3

The Witcher 3 is coming 19 May, a date that just can’t come soon enough. Now there’s a new video that’s making the wait even harder. Not only is Geralt looking tough, but I’m now even more keen to try my hand at Ciri’s powers.

Here is the latest video for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Obviously the music is epic and makes me happy, but it’s also about those mythical creatures for me. The enemy designs and unique abilities seem to add a whole extra level of strategy and combat. Plus, they just look really cool and well designed.

We already knew that Ciri would have a blink ability – for those who know the lore it makes a lot of sense. However, she is way faster and more deadly than some people might think. She looks like the type of character that I will fully enjoy playing as – quick, lithe and deadly, what could be better? While her sections of the game will only come at specific times, it will be a nice change of pace to play as a different kind of Witcher.

All these videos are definitely getting me excited, but I’m glad that there is more to the game than just pretty imagery. The combat is deep and fluid with plenty of challenge and the world is vast and varied. I feel like The Witcher 3 is promising RPG fans everything that they could ever want, and the more I see the more I think that they could actually deliver on it. Setting the benchmark this high, it will be interesting to see how this affects other games that release after it.
