Australia may not be known for much, besides Crocodile Dundee and games of knifey-spooney, but the nightmare fuel country of dangerous critters is the birthplace of Mad Max at least. The cult road maniac portrayed originally by Mel Gibson has remained a staple part of celluloid culture for decades now. And with a new film on the way, it looks like he’ll be racing his way onto consoles again soon. Ripper mate.
There’s no word yet on whether or not the trailer shown at the Sony Press conference will make use of a Mad Max based on Mel Gibson’s portrayal, or the upcoming interpretation of the character by Sam Worthington in Fury Road.
But if it’s anything as mental as the trailer wherein Max honours a last request in the most gruesome way possible, we could be on the receiving end of a shotgun slug of R-rated gameplay. Just Cause developers Avalanche are behind this entry, so don’t be too surprised if they’ve managed to create a post-apocalypse Australia on a massive scale.
No word yet on whether or not it’ll be on next-gen systems, but Mad Max will be racing onto current-gen in 2014.
