I just received an email from one of the largest local retailers which has some very surprising news inside, apparently Microsoft has informed local retailers to stop accepting pre-orders for the Kinect due to international product shortages.
So in a nut shell if you haven’t pre-ordered your Kinect yet then there is a big chance that you won’t be getting on at launch and there are no longer any guarantees that you will be getting one for Christmas.
Of course we don’t know if this means that Microsoft isn’t releasing enough stock into the retail channels or if the demand is just simply greater than the supply which is exactly what every new product wants to happen.
The email I received…
Hi Gavin,
Just to let you know. Our supplier has now asked us to remove the Kinect from pre-order, since Microsoft informed them there is a world wide product constraint and they don’t know who will get stock.

No, they are constraining stock just to create hype and in turn constrain their own pockets

So, who still doesn’t believe that they’re doing this to create hype?
Welcome to the on-rail fail train 😀

Maybe they are waiting for more stock on wallets to become available. Current wallets=overflowing.

Or maybe, try stick with me on this one, they can only produce X amount before release and Pre-Orders have passed that amount. Either way, speculation from both us, eh?

Nonsense! But without numbers (which MS won’t release) we’re merely left with theorycraft.

Just received unofficial confirmation from a friend at Kalahari.net, that Microsoft sent them a letter stating that if they did not comply, Microsoft would not sell them stock or honour their current pre-orders!
The fail war is heating up!

I have two on pre-order already – should I add a 3rd for resale?
