Microsoft is not dumping MS Points

NoSoFastYesterday I posted an article about how Microsoft could be planning on dumping their much criticised MS Points for real world transactions which could have caused issues for us in deepest darkest Africa.

However it has now been confirmed that this is not in fact true… or is it. The official Microsoft comment given to The Verge is

“Microsoft Points continue to be the currency for purchasing content for the Xbox 360 console,”

All they are really saying here is that right now they aren’t changing the charging system on the Xbox 360 which is to be expected as the 360 is nearing the end of its lifespan and changing something so drastically now wouldn’t be a great PR move.

However moving forward to the next Xbox I can’t see them sticking the MS Points if they have already announced that Windows 8 is moving to real world currencies.
