Mirror’s Edge Storytelling in 2D

Mirror’s Edge has been cleaning up the action awards over the past week after it’s showing at E3 and it really does look like it’s going to turn out to be an awesome title.

To be honest I am loving the new direction in gaming that EA is taking with this and many other of their new IP’s.

But back to the point, Mirror’s Edge is looking like it is about to redefine 3D gaming in this generation and at the same time it has taken an odd direction with it’s story telling.

Apparently the story cut scenes are all going to be in 2D ala ‘comic style’.

I think it’s pretty obvious that this is to tie in with the recently announced Mirror’s Edge comic book. So is this just profiteering or a new way to make the games more indepth?

Personally I think this is much better than trying to port great games into crappy movies so I am all for it.

interesting. Given the way they’re redefining “first person” I would have really expected them to do their cutscenes Half-Life style. (i.e no cutscenes, just in-game scripting), but i like the comic book style.
