Back in 1993 when Mortal Kombat 2 hit the arcades it included (in response to the uproar generated by Mortal Kombat 1’s violence) the option of performing a “Friendship†or “Babality†on your opponent as he stood swaying at your mercy. This clever little plan was not only designed to take some of the heat off of Midway at the time, but also left the option of finishing an opponent open to player’s discretion.
The reason for the brief history lesson is due to the fact that Babalities seem to have made their way into the new Mortal Kombat, adding a good dose of fan service to a game that is already shaping up to be an MK enthusiasts dream . Whether or not friendships will also be included remains to be seen, but judging by the reference menu in the video below, and assuming the characters have the customary 2 fatalities each, it seems as though it could actually be a possibility.
