Name that skylander

What could be more decadent than eating potato chips in bed? Playing games at the same time. What, that’s my mental image when I hear that Activision and Frito-Lay are in bed together for this latest offer. But in actual fact, it’s far less decadent and way more beneficial – you can name a Skylander and win.

Lays recently ran a promotion allowing consumers to name their own flavor for a contest. It had some cool submissions, but also went horribly wrong. Now they are letting people name a Skylanders character, with a pretty nice prize:

The entry with the highest number of online votes will win a $100,000 scholarship in the form of a check. Additionally, the winner could be featured on Frito-Lay’s Classic Mix and Flavor Mix packaging. The winning name submission will also become the official name for that Skylanders character and will appear in a variety of places such as on Skylanders packaging and even in the Skylanders game!

Entrants need to be 18 years or older, so presumably they’re expecting parents to help their kids register, or for university students to finally afford to spend their money on booze instead of tuition fees. The contest is only open to those in the US of A, but I’m sure the rest of us can suggest names to our American friends who can then go here to take part in the competition.

It’s unclear if these will be part of the Swap Force universe or some other Skylanders game. Either way, I love getting involved with these things. How about naming that first one Baticia? Or maybe just Flappy Chick?
