Naughty Dog Explains Their Bungie, Infinity Ward Kudos

In the credits for Uncharted 2, Naughty Dog thanks a host of other development studios for their work on the game. While most of them are fellow Sony first party studios, two notable studios amongst them aren’t – and one of them sticks out like a sore thumb.

Those studios are – drumroll please – Call of Duty purveyors Infinity Ward and, intriguingly, the free-from-the-shackles-of-yet-inextricably-linked-to-Microsoft house that built Halo, Bungie. Why would Naughty Dog thank the opposition?

In a live chat session (the transcription of which you can read here) Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann explained why they acknowledged them;

We try to be quite open with our technology and our process.  We exchanged technology and ideas with other developers. We wanted to make sure we thanked everyone that helped us out in some way.

If I’m allowed to put my assumption hat on, I presume that both Bungie and Infinity Ward – both studios having crafted the top multiplayer games this generation – helped Naughty Dog on the multiplayer side of things. Seems likely, considering how good that aspect of the game is.

Now if only fanboys on opposing sides of the console fence could share the same sort of regard. Hell is due for an ice age, isn’t it?

    Its good that Devs help each other out (to some degree) now and then.
    If its to make a game better, then why not?
    It only benefits everyone in the end.
