Microsoft Report

So I have been harping on recently about the fact that Microsoft need to do something special to stop the Sony machine from running all over them.

Well the latest rumour is something special… one way or another.

Apparently the next dashboard update is going to include an entirely new dashboard which will be 3D and navigated using that new Wii-like controller.

Think Minority Effect….

Now that your thinking about that awesome Minority Effect dashboard come crashing down to earth and remember that our wonderful 42” Plasma’s are two dimensional and this dashboard is never going to be that cool…

    I seriously doubt this one.
Who will buy a special controller just to navigate?
.A sort of home clone? if this is the case, I don’t think it will be near ready, on the other hand MS has sat back knowing sony is coming with in game XMB and Trophies… they had time to prep, what did they do about it…

if they do make a wii-like remote, it better be f’ing top notch cause in terms of accuracy and speed the wii remote has not impressed me that much.

also if they do make I want gloves like in the pic 😈 watch me slap you round!!

LOL! i didn’t even notice that. Yep, cool movie.

MS has something up it’s sleeve, can’t imagine what. Personally, i don’t care to be honest. Drop the price of live and support our locale and i’ll be a happy camper.

I think the marketplace blade needs some cleaning up too.

looks like MS needs a miracle now to be on top again. Oh and the Wii-like controller doesn’t sound cool , how about voice navigation, navigate the dashboard with our voices hey wouldn’t that be just so cool “Voice Navigation” something like this will keep Sony on its knees.

I doubt it, but Windows is MS’s “core purpose” so to speak. So anything they do build will probably consider better integration with some funky new Vista feature, or Windows Live.

MS’s recommended home setup is a PC with Vista. Windows Media Player 11 as your media player of course, hotmail e-mail account a Zune player on the same network as the 360.

So you can assume that something in this uber-maga-surprising Firmware feature list will address this. It could be something arb like “See your hotmail on your 360, or IE7 or 8 on the 360”.

Everyone is thinking something like a home competitor or a 3d dashboard.

My prediction is that the dashboard will look more-or-less the same, but will have a bucketload of new features (clan support anyone?) to make it far more useful.

(that’s what i would do if i were MS anyway) Why radically change something that people are soo used to having, rather make it work better.

Of that which you speak is actually called “Live! Anywhere” and was announced about 2 years ago.

And to do voice navigation they could just use the Xbox headset..
