TGS has kicked off, and its expected to bring about a ton of new game announcements. One of those may or may not be Devil May Cry; And fans will possibly be reduced to tears. Whether they’re tears of joy, or tears of heartbreak remain to be seen.

Capcom’s Devil may Cry 5, you see, has long been rumoured to be developed in conjunction with Enslaved and Heavenly Sword developers Ninja Theory – and that evidence is stacking up.

[Update] Capcom confirmed at their TGS press event that Ninja Theory would be developing DmC, which looks like a prequel to the original Devil May Cry, featuring a younger Dante.

[Update 2] We have a trailer now, which you’ll find after the jump.

Here are the facts :

  • Capcom’s Keiji Inafune said in an interview that Devil May Cry 5 would have a “Western Touch.” that generally means utilising a western developer, like they did with Bionic Commando and Dead Rising 2.
  • Capcom’s European division let slip that the company would reveal four new games at this year’s TGS.
  • Capcom recently trademarked “DMC,” which likely references Devil May Cry
  • Ninja theory have tweeted that they’ll be unveiling their new game this week

Right now, it’s pretty likely that Capcom will be announcing a new Ninja Theory developed Devil May Cry this week at TGS. Do you think they’re the right studio for the job? Personally, I feel the DMC series has gotten a little stale and in need of a rejuvenating kick up the bottom. could Ninja Theory be the ones to deliver it?

We’ll know soon enough, I guess.
