In what is becoming the norm for PS3 titles it was reported today that Final Fantasy XIII will not be released until after the current fiscal year (March 2008)
“It will take a bit more time,” Wada reportedly said about FFXIII. “At the very least, this fiscal year is definitely out of the question.”
No reasons have been given but the normal rumours have already started up… Porting to Xbox 360 and lack of installation base…
However it is most likely just so that they can perfect this title, if they have realised that they can’t hit this holiday period they might as well just hold onto it until the next holiday period. Giving more time to put the finishing touches on and at the same time getting a bigger installation base…
So currently there is not going to be a killer title until at least May 2008 on the PS3. Unless something becomes a killer title out of no where. Lair or Heavenly sword spring to mind…

Ja, a lot of the major titles have been pushed into 2008.
1. Pessimistic Scenario
The CELL is proving to be a bigger challenge than expected, even with the Playstation Edge set of development tools. The installation base is too small.
2. Optimistic Scenario
They have discovered that they can do a lot more with the Cell + RSX than initially thought so they have decide to rework large portions of the game…. 🙂 (Doubt it)
Scenario 1 seems more likely at this point.

Something the Wii has 7.2 million off and the 360 has 10.8 million off 🙂
The PS3 is not doing badly though it is sitting at 3.1 million now

3.1 million BR players is what I think for now.
