No Man’s Sky is headed to PS4 next year

No Man’s Sky was a massive crowd pleaser when it was revealed during the VGX awards last year. It was an even bigger hit at E3 this year, and easily one of the highlights during Sony’s press conference. Now, we have a better idea of when to expect it.

If you’re still hoping to get your hands on the procedurally generated sci-fi MMO this year, then you’re probably going to have a bad day. No Man’s Sky hasn’t really locked down a release date yet, but we know for certain that it will come out sometime in 2015 on PS4. So far no other platforms have been announced, although Hello Games alluded to a PC version after E3. That’s still up in the air though, and the game could end up being a PS4 exclusive, at least at launch.

If you’re completely confused and still have no idea what No Man’s Sky is, here’s a quick recap. No Man’s Sky is about exploration. You’re given a ship and a massive, randomly generated open-world to get lost in. You can land on planets, explore the local wildlife and then just jet off to a nearby moon.

Your game is connected to thousands of other players, which brings in the whole MMO aspect. Hello Games have said though that while you will have other players flying around in your universe, you may never meet them. Planets are so large that millions of players could be on the same one and never run into each other. Your ship has weapons equipped to deal with threats, but these seem to be more environmental than player focused.

Still confused? That’s fine, because the game is a little bit of a mission to grasp., That’s probably because it just feels like a breath of fresh air, something unique and interesting to look forward to that doesn’t involve running and gunning. Check out some of the gameplay below if you’re just mildly interested now.

Trust me, this is a game to keeps your eyes glued to.

This is not a game for me. I like having a goal to work towards, just flying around & exploring would bore me after a little while.

It does have a goal but its not defined as you must do this this goal. You can play how you want but if you want a goal you can have one. The ‘goal’ is to get to the centre of the galaxy and once you get their something happens but the games creators haven’t said what that something is. The game doesn’t end at the centre of the galaxy either and can in theory be played for eternity. Take a look at the gamespots coverage of this title, its simply amazing.

I’ll sail west. They say there are strange shores with animals that no man has seen before. I hope to meet the Banana on those distant shores but if I don’t, so be it.
I can’t wait for this till 2015, I might not make it. The devs fingered old school science fiction novels as their inspiration. I grew up reading that stuff.

I’m sorry, but how are you certain that it will be out in 2015 when Hello Games have said nothing about release dates? Have you actually been told by Hello Games that it will be 2015? Or are you just speculating, in which case you really don’t “know for certain” do you.

It was revealed to Gamespot as part of their extensive coverage of the game. It’s not anything significant, just a reminder that it’s not coming this year. Release dates are hardly set in stone nowadays anyway.

Sorry, but did they tell you that, or are you just assuming it was revealed because the page says 2015 on it? Because Danny said himself when people were commenting on the original “31st Dec 2015” release date they put on:
“Sorry that’s inaccurate. There’s no release date as yet, we’ve changed it to say “2015” for now – sorry for the confusion.”

It sounds more like he changed it to 2015 to be safe, not because he actually knows for sure. So if you’re basing what you said on this article, then you don’t know for certain.

It may certainly be 2015, I just don’t like people saying it as a fact unless it’s been officially confirmed by Hello Games, because if not, then its just assumptions. So… have you spoken to someone at Gamespot who told you that Hello Games confirmed 2015, or are you just going by what you and everyone else has read on the Gamespot Page?

This game is pre pre pre alpha right now. Best hope we have is May 2016

    May 2016
