Oh no Duke Nukem isn’t getting great previews

Over the past few days a bunch of journalists were whisked away to Vegas to get some solid hands on time with the near to be released Duke Nukem Forever.

I had some hands on time with the game last year when it was still in its very early stage and while it was Duke it did feel very unfinished and I was worried then that Gearbox were just not going to be able to pull this off.

Well the reports coming out of Vegas seem to back that feeling up with Ben Kuchera, of Arstechnica, posting in his article that the game is pretty much a mess and isn’t the finale the Duke deserved.

The truth has to be told, however: the game simply does not look very good.

DNF‘s framerate is sluggish, it pauses in multiple places, and the whole thing feels jerky

and then the part that really hit home for me was

In many situations, you’re stuck killing wave after wave of aliens with your shotgun or handgun, and the combat doesn’t feel as good as it could

This was my biggest problem when I had some hands on time with the game but I was really hoping it would be fixed before release, unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case.

There is still time though so lets hope and pray that Randy Pitchford performs magic and gets this over the line.
