So-Shiny-So-chrome

Think a Zygarde or a Mewtwo is rare? Pal, they ain’t nothing compared to shiny Pokémon. The rarest of the rare, these pocket monsters pop up only when all nine planets align, or you trip into a field filled with four-leaf clovers that have been grown from the remains of rabbit feet and murdered Leprechauns.

That’s not to say that it’s impossible to encounter one in the wild, as over the years several hacks have popped up to make the process a little bit easier. But Pokémon Sun and Moon may just have the easiest and quickest method yet. For starters, you’ll want to get your hands on the Adrenaline Orb. This can be acquired after you pay a visit to the Mallow Trial and complete it. You’ll then be able to purchase the orb from a Pokémon Center, and face more monsters in battle.

Specifically, if you whittle the health of a Pokemon down far enough, it’ll call for some assistance from its particular breed. The trick here, is to hold back just enough power to keep the target random encounter Pokémon just far enough away from fainting. That’s where the move False Swipe comes in handy, as it’ll keep the target HP at a mere single digit. False Swipe will be available in TM form as a gift from Professor Kukui, after you defeat the Melemele Island Kahuna Hala.

Right, so you’ve got the Pokémon within reach, you’ve got it down to 1 HP and at this point you’ll want to use your Adrenaline Orb so that the target will call in a reinforcement. At this point, the new Pokémon that appears will boast one of several new values: It’ll either have better stats, have a better hidden ability or it’ll be shiny.

At this point, you can A) freak the f%$! out at seeing a Shiny or B) Moan about how back in your day you’d spend several days in the same patch of grass hoping to find a Shiny. But there you go. Repeat as necessary, and you’ll soon have bragging rights. Easy! So shiny! SO CHROME!
