Portal, Scooby-Doo and Simpsons join Lego Dimensions

Everyone is climbing aboard the Games X Toys train, and for good reasons. Games like Skylanders and Disney Infinity make a hell of a lot of money – which is the universal language that all publishers speak. Warner Bros. are staking their claim later this year with Lego Dimensions, which will have you collecting Lego figurines for in-game fun. Lego, it seems, from extremely popular franchises.

A WallMart listing (which has now been removed) has leaked Lego Dimensions sets for The Simpsons, Scooby-Doo and – get this – Portal. The first two aren’t that surprising, given that both Simpsons and Scooby-Doo have both had physical Lego sets created in the past. I’ll bet my non-existent hat that anything Lego has had their hands on will make its way to Dimensions eventually – which makes Portal all the more surprising.

Portal has never been associated with Lego in the past, which means Warner Bros. and the brick building company might have struck a recent deal with Valve to make it happen. We could soon have little mini figurines of Chell, Wheatley and even GlaDOS to play around with, and seeing them in a game again (since Portal 3 is so not happening) will be an absolute treat and a half.

A proposal for a Portal Lego set was submitted to the open-source Lego Idea platform, which allows submissions on new sets from anyone around the world. The submission was suspiciously given more time for consideration, which suggests Lego are in fact really interested in making it happen. it could just be a matter of sorting legal logistics out with Valve in the end.

That pretty much confirms my order for Lego Dimensions if it all turns out to be true, since I’m an absolute sucker for anything related to Portal. I wouldn’t mind a Lego Scooby-Doo either though.
