Price cut boosts PlayStation 3 sales – You think?

This just in, cutting the price of a gaming console causes the sales to increase… Now who didn’t know that?

Sony’s CEO Howard Stringer has come out and said that the PS3 has sold over 100 000 units in the US in the last week, we are still waiting for the official NPD stats to verify this but I wouldn’t be suprised if it was true.

It seems that a lot of people have been waiting for the price cut before deciding to pick up a PS3, I do also think some killer titles like Assassins Creed, Call of Duty 4, Ratchet & Clank and the upcoming Unreal Tournament III have also helped.

I think we are very much at that point where we can no longer say that the PS3 has no games, that list would keep the average gamer happy for months and they still have a relatively large back catalogue to play after that.

PS3 outsold the Wii in Japan this week, moving 56000 units to the Wii’s 35000 units. Oh, 2008 is going to be an awesome year to watch from the sidelines 😀 .
