PS3 Firmware 2.20 is out

Sorry I am slightly behind the times on this but it really isn’t very interesting…. yet.

The latest firmware update is out and with it comes a few new features.

Boring
You can now play DivX and WMV files over 2GB and even display subtitles on the DivX..
You can export music and photo playlists to your PSP
Some pages now display faster in the browser

Pretty Cool
You can now use your PSP to play back music from your PS3 without turning on the TV
The movie playback software now also remembers where you stopped in the movie and carries on playing from there. Even if you played a game inbetween.

Will be awesome
Your PS3 is now Blu-Ray Profile 2.0 enabled which means it can now download new content for movies on an ongoing basis keeping them new and exciting… However no 2.0 movies have yet been released so right now it’s not much help.

In defense of the “boring” features, the DivX update is the one that I am most excited about. DivX support came with a previous update, but it was less than perfect. Many of my DivX videos would not play. Apparently the support has been greatly improved now, so I am keen to test it out.
