PSN outage hasn’t slowed PS3 sales

In a surprising turn it appears that the continued PSN outage has had absolutely no affect on the sales of PS3 consoles themselves.

In fact according to Vgchartz the PS3 is currently the top selling console on the planet and is outselling the Xbox 360 by around 20 000 units a week.

This entire advantage can be put down to Japan since the 360 is winning in America by around the same margin that the PS3 is outselling the 360 in Europe but since the Japanese appear to hate the 360 then the 20k extra units sold in Japan for the PS3 is keeping it ahead.

This either shows a huge amount of belief in Sony that they will resolve their PSN and data integrity issues or that the majority of people really don’t care about online access at all.

Are you surprised that Sony is keeping up it’s sales streak in the midst of this crisis?
