Rumour: New Shinobi coming to Nintendo 3DS

Recently I reviewed Splinter Cell 3D for the Nintendo 3DS and was disappointed to say the least. It was said to be the game to reach the hardcore gamer, create a new market for the 3DS, sell systems and push new games. This however, didn’t happen. The game was a flop and it has left the action-orientated 3DS users with nothing to play and worst of all, no reason to own a 3DS in the first place.

But rumoured light shines at the end of the 3DS tunnel. According to a resume of an environment artist, it is believed that a brand new game based on the Shinobi series is coming to the Nintendo 3DS! Hit the jump for more info.

Griptonite Games, a studio known mostly for portable licensed titles and Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines, is heading up the prospective title. Nothing else is revealed about the game, it just has the rather vague name of Shinobi 3DS.

The last Shinobi game was Nightshade on the PS2, it got mixed reviews but I played the Shinobi out of it! If this is all true and Shinobi 3DS is on the way, I really believe that this could be the one to save this system and get a bigger demographic interested. Please, please be true!

What do you guys think? If Nintendo started looking into developing more hardcore titles, would this be enough of a incentive to get a 3DS?
