Rumour: Uncharted 3 heading to a desert near you

It amazes me how many people still get this wrong: please note the single “s” in “desert”. That means there could be a lot of sand in the next Uncharted game. If there was a double “s” then we could expect Nathan Drake to be rolling around in a bowl of chocolate mousse or whichever dessert takes your fancy. This, depending on your gender or sexual preference, could appeal to some. Me? Not so much; I’ll take the sandy option thanks.

Which is fortunate because according to “an informed source”, this is where Drake could be heading next. We’ve already explored jungles and temples in Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, and then we were whisked away to the Himalayan Mountains to explore more temples in Nepal in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

The deserts of Africa have, apparently, been a much requested destination by fans of the first two games in Naughty Dog’s amazing franchise. As many people have already pointed out, Uncharted 3 could be set anywhere and it would still be a day-one purchase for most. If ever there was a series of games that justified blowing R3k on a PS3, it’s this one.

Uncharted 3 has not been officially announced, but it’s SO happening. Sony teased an exclusive announcement for 12 December 2010, just after the Spike VGAs which happen on 11 December. Hopefully we’ll get a confirmation then. Until that time I’ll just sit quietly in front of my PC and hum the theme tune all day.

I'm a freelance writer who has somehow managed to convince people to pay me to play video games. By day I work a job, but by night and early hours of the morning, I write about video games. The one job provides a living for my family; the other provides a living for my soul. Dramatic, right?
