The newest entry in the Serious Sam franchise is taking a long step away from the roots of it’s predecessors by discarding the wild, fast paced first-person shooter action for something a little more random. Serious Sam Tormental will see the titular hero, who I assume will be very serious, entering the mind of a massive demi-god known as Mental as means to try and destroy the creature. Adapting an entirely new visual style that looks far more light-hearted and, dare I say, less serious. The game will feature twin stick shooting as well as rogue-lite elements for players to delve into.
The mind of Mental is constantly changing, resulting in randomly generated maps for you and up to three other friends to shoot your way through, and you’ll be doing a lot of shooting. Based on the reveal trailer, it seems that a big part of the game’s loot revolves around weapons, allowing players to fit different guns together to create different unique builds, as well as an assortment of other loot items that will no doubt provide useful upgrades every time you venture into that demonic mind.
With four playable characters, each with unique attributes and abilities, a seemingly wide selection of loot, weapons and maps and three different worlds to fight through, Serious Sam Tormental looks like it could a damn good time. It is currently available on Steam in early access for R89.

Seems kinda crazy. Or mad. Some might say insane. Mental, even.
