AG SHAYMIN! Another month, another free Pokémon from across the Legendary divide! Last month say the adorable Manaphy given out for free to Pokémon fans. This month, say hello to the even cuter Shaymin that Pokémon X/Y/Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire owners can get their hands on:
The blooming of Gracidea flowers confers the power of flight upon it. Feelings of gratitude are the message it delivers. It can dissolve toxins in the air to instantly transform ruined land into a lush field of flowers.
Shaymin looks infinitely huggable, but the little fella isn’t just the sweetest little critter you’ll ever see. Shaymin happens to have two forms: Its regular Land Forme where it has Grass-Type attributes and a tougher Sky Forme that turns Shaymin into a hybrid Grass and Flying-Type Pokémon. The Sky Forme can be activated by using a Gracidea flower during the day, which can be found in X/Y when you visit Snowbelle City. A female NPC at the Pokémon Center there whill give a Gracideas flower if you show her your pocket monster. Not that one, pervert.
In Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, the son of the Berry Master (RUN BERRY RUN) on route 123 will also give you a Gracidea flower if you show him your Shaymin. Sky Forme only lasts during the day, and can be cancelled if your the little guy is frozen or deposited back into a PC. To get the little guy, simply connect your 3DS console to the internet, select Mystery Gift and the download will begin.
It’s a lot easier than the previous method of finding a Shaymin, which involved visiting the event-only area of Flower Island in Pokémon Diamond/Pearl. For the rest of the year, you can expect the following Pokémon to roll out:
- Arceus: August 1 – 24, 2016 at GameStop/ BT Games
- Victini: September 1 – 24, 2016 at Nintendo Network
- Keldeo: October 1 – 24, 2016 at Nintendo Network
- Genesect: November 1 – 24, 2016 at GameStop/ BT Games
- Meloetta: December 1 – 24, 2016 at Nintendo Network
You’ve got until July 24 to get Shaymin. And then it’s gone gone gone forever…
