Sierra’s first game is out next month

A long, long time ago on an Xbox 360 far far away, a younger version of myself downloaded a little arcade title called Geometry Wars. The neon glory experience that followed has remained one of my fondest memories of Microsoft’s old console, but next month brings a whole new Geometry Wars era.

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions was revealed during Gamescom, appearing under the now revived logo of Sierra Games. Turns out the “once 2D but now 3D” twin stick shooter will be the very first title launched by the new and improved Sierra, with Activision tagging along for support.

Geometry Wars 3 will arrive on PSN and PC on November 25th, with the frantic multiplayer shooter arriving on Xbox a day later. The Dimensions subtitle is there for a reason, with the third entry into the popular series featuring 3D gameplay for the first time. Dimensions…3D…clever right?

Regardless, Geometry Wars 3 looks every bit like the Geometry Wars game I know and love, with a little shift in perspective. The overly insane neon visuals are still there and as gorgeous as ever. The idea is to never really have a clue as to what’s actually going on – judging by the screenshot above, I think Sierra have nailed it.

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions will retail for $15 at launch. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be worth every cent.

I am so looking forward to this – Geometry Wars 1 was brilliant! 2 was not as pure in my opinion although many think it better (I disagree!!!).

    Just glad we getting a 3rd one…

I want my new Heroes Quest. And Kings’ Quest. And Space Quest. And Police Quest.

Hell, they can even bring back Larry & I’ll buy them, if they’re anything like Larry 1-5 or so.

The Quest games are what Sierra did best, and are a HUGELY important part of gaming history and culture (at least to the 30+ crowd), and they really need to be rebooted.

    GIMME MAH QUEST GAMES DAMMIT!!
