Skyrim enters modern times, allows same sex marriages

Pete Hines is the vice president of Bethesda Softworks and has been answering some questions on Twitter about Skyrim and the unfortunately still touchy subject of homosexuality and gay marriage.

Now my personal opinion is that I find it disgusting that people in this world really think they have the right to tell 2 people who love each other that they can’t get married. It’s also unfortunate that this is still a touchy subject in certain quarters but it warms my heart to see that it’s not for Bethesda.

In Skyrim you are free to get married but what hasn’t been mentioned at all is whether or not you can marry someone off your own sex.

Twitter user @Jadis232 posted a question to Pete asking if same sex marriage is allowed in Skyrim and if so why it was being kept hush hush?

To Pete’s credit he responded perfectly with

Not hush hush, just not making a huge deal out of it. You can marry anyone.

Then, bless the internet, he was asked if we could marry animals… to which he responded

Sorry, should clarify, Not any NPC, just mean any male or female. Doesn’t matter what you’re playing.

So that’s that.. I’m so going to start as a female character and then marry a women..
