There was a lot of talk about how GT5 had over 1000 cars that you could take around the track but the cruel reality was that the vast majority of people didn’t want to take 100 different types of Daewoo’s around the track.
Test Drive Unlimited 2 has taken a completely different route with their car list, while TDU2 may only have 67 cars that you can race the difference is that you are going to want to take each and every single one of them for a spin.
It’s an awesome list ranging from Alfa Romeo’s to Ferraris to Audi’s and Zonda’s… check it out after the break.

Not looking to start a flame war here, but does that list actually have a wider variety of cars than that of other driving simulators?

The first game was surprisingly awesome. It wasn’t loved by many critics but it was an enjoyable romp. I probably spent hours JUST DRIVING AROUND (excluding all the races and challenges). The motorcycles were a bit crummy and their handling were completely wrong and the graphics were outdated (even for when it released), but it was fun.
I’m pretty keen on Test Drive Unlimited 2, hopefully it’ll deliver.

Oh my, this is going to be a terrible game….incredibly terrible!!!!! What’s so difficult putting in BMW and Porsche when you have no license for it!!! Nothing wrong with breaking the law!!!
(Cant help but think about the poor idiots going on about GT5 and Porsche) Kry vir julle so bietjie!!!
Looking forward to the game. First one was fun so hopefully this should be even more fun.
Maybe they will add more cars and get licenses for those they dont have. Only thing I’m a bit worried about is are they going to pull Need for Speed stunts and charge stupid prices for DLC?

Especially now that Porches are being manufactured in China… 😛

Car list is bleak as all other multi-platform racers. How hard is it to squeeze a 100 cars into a game?
And I doubt TDU is pushing a polygon count like Forza 3.
I rather hold on for PGR5 and Forza 4!

Most likely they’re going for the DLC model. In the original, they also released a ton-load of cars as DLC (although most were for free). I just wish motorbikes were back in 🙁

You guys have to remember that This game is set on a big island and you can actually travel back to original updated expanded version of the Hawaiian island of O?ahu from the first Test Drive: Unlimited, so in fact you can drive on 2 islands which means a total of over 3000km of road, so I can understand why they have only 67 cars.

If you add up all the track distances of all the tracks in GT5 or Forza 3 it doesn’t even exceed 400 km so there ain’t that much scenery compared to 3000km or road accompanied by lots and lots of scenery.

Although to GT5s defence, much of that scenery in the original test drive unlimited was copy and paste. Once you, passed on town or building in the city, you’ve practically seen them all. A bit like Just Cause 2… tbh.
Having said that, I’m still drooling for this game. I’m going to create an anti-hipster dude, who’ll make Spain his bitch!

Test Drive Unlimited had loads of car packs, so im not worried about this list. This is still the best racing game made to date, and you can argue with that. This will own again. Just hope i can get a Scubie in a DLC Pack.

Very little variety, no nascar no karting, no tank cars, no touring cars, no rally cars, looks like this is very casual or something
Not even a corvette zr1!
pathetic!

I heard the trees are magnificent though. They so don’t look like cardboard cut outs
lans
January 19, 2011 at 18:06
The problem with your argument is that in TDU the trees have 2X the detail of the cars
So i would take 2d trees anyday over horrendous car models that look even worse than most of gt5’s standard cars……true fact!
I would take 1:1 tracks and 1:1 modelled cars then the digital mess that is TDU
Some GT fan you are comparing TDU with a game like GT5 -999 rep nick whats gotten into man!

January 19, 2011 at 18:40
I still can’t believe that you are seriously trying to compare TDU, an open world MMO-style driving game – to Gran Turismo – a track sim

In that case, it seems apparent then, that Castlevania will end up having the better story and combat mechanics of the three

LIES! WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011 had the superior story. You have just exposed yourself as the fanboi that you are.

lol (let’s try that again)
LIES! WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011 had the superior story. You have just exposed yourself as “the insert console of choice” fanboi that you are. Now go play your FIFA, while the real men play PES.

Kamikaze tactics don’t work on me nick, for example you have invalidated your previous comment about the trees in TDU being better than gt5 when they are obviously not comparable according to your logic
According to my logic which you seem to be following, GT5 is better than TDU in every way but has poor story and combat etc compared to Castlevania??!!
I CAN LIVE WITH THAT :D!!!!
