The EA Humble Bundle is mental

Not too long ago, we had a Deep silver humble bundle that seemed like the world’s biggest bargain – but there’s a new one from EA that is quite frankly crazy. For the insane price of whatever the hell you want, you can get great games like Dead Space 3, Mirror’s Edge, Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box, Crysis 2 Maximum and Medal of Honor. That’s ludicrous.

On top of that, if you pay above the average – which right now is about $5 – you’ll also get Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3 with 2 of its expansion packs. And yes, it includes those games soundtracks.

Here’s the kicker; EA doesn’t want any of your money. Usually, you can split it between charities, the publisher or developer, and the humble bundle organisers – but EA is giving up its share, giving it all to charities –  the Human Rights CampaignWatsi; the San Francisco AIDS Foundation; the American Red Cross; or the American Cancer Society.

There is a caveat though; you’re going to need a heck of a lot of bandwidth to download it al (about 100 gigs) and you’ll also have to do your downloading through Origin – with some of the games coming as Steam keys. Sorry, but them’s the breaks. The bundle has already raised over $2,84 million for charity – which is pretty damned fantastic.

You can buy the crazy bundle here.

Nothing, who doesn’t want to lock innocent Sims into a room without any doors and fill it to the brim with fireworks and watch them all burn? 🙂

Or let them drown in a pool or starve to death. 😀 Ah such precious memories of sado-masochism.

My theory is that movies like Saw and Hostel were partially inspired by the Sims.

There’s a reason The Sims 2 and The Sims are two of the best-selling PC games of all time. Because they’re great! Give it a go. What have you got to lose apart from a few extra dollars that are going to good causes anyway?

Does not mean that because it sells a lot, that it is a good Game….. Look at COD…

I try to always support the Humble Bundle, but i cannot see myself spending the moola for Sims. Would rather give the money to a local charity then..

You know, sometimes a game selling a lot does simply mean it is a good game.

That’s what’s making me forego my default “dismiss anything EA does” setting – it’s all for charity. They definitely deserve the credit.

Indeed, I don’t really feel any different about EA mind you. but, I will always support things like this, not only does a charity benefit but Gaming in general get’s a better image, and I’m all for that. it’s just, well sad…that this type of positivity in gaming will not get the exposure it deserves, but If more ‘Big’ companies like EA does things like this, then the media will have to notice it.

I got mine last night. Very happy. BF3 for a friend, Sims for the GF, and all the other games for myself! The problem with all these sales (steam, gamersgate) though is that I have a pretty impressive backlog. And this 1 month before Rome 2!

It is important to note that some games include the Steam keys AS WELL AS Origin keys.. So you will have 5 duplicates when you buy this bundle… I bought it last night, so I can confirm you can redeem some of the games for BOTH Origin and Steam
