Who doesn’t love South Park? The antics of four young kids mixed with the insanity of a drug trip and social commentary sharper than a samurai sword has been around for quite a while now, spinning off a few games in the process.

Previous South Park games have explored FPS and tower defence genres, but the next title will be an RPG game, straight from fan favourite developer Obsidian Entertainment.

The December issue of Game Informer has revealed that the studio behind Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Fallout: New Vegas is designing the game to not just be a quick cash-in, but a full fledged South Park experience, with input from the creators of the series, Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

Stone and Parker will be writing the script for the game, as well as perform the iconic dialogue and voices of the TV show. As a new kid in South Park, players will have to help defend the town from a whole range of threats and dangers.

While I’m not expecting an out of this world title that has mind-blowing visuals, a South Park RPG game from Obsidian with input from the creators sounds like some truly fun and solid gameplay, with laugh out loud moments.

Stone and Parker are no strangers to gaming either, having lampooned popular titles such as Guitar Hero and World of Warcraft in different episodes of South Park. Expect the game next year, for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
