I’m a huge fan of the new PlayStation 4 controller; it’s leagues ahead of the abysmal DualShock 3 and today I saw the best news yet about this next generation. That is that the new DualShock 4 will work on the PlayStation 3.

But oddly enough it won’t work on all games as explained by Udetto here

In short, it works absolutely perfectly if it is connected via a USB cable but unsurprisingly it doesn’t work wirelessly.

So that should mean it works with all games right? Well no, for some reason that I was totally unaware of, certain PS3 games insist you play the game with the controller disconnected from the console.

FIFA, for example, apparently does this. Why this “feature” even exists baffles me but there you have it. If like me you don’t like your DS3 then you can replace it with the far superior DS4 in a few weeks and play most PS3 games with it.
