The new Sims 4 trailer shows that this latest iteration of the game will include a greater emotional range that will have a deeper impact on gameplay. Gone are the days of just keeping your Sims happy at all costs, those strange and varied emotions will change how they interact and what they do.
Here is the latest trailer for The Sims 4, showing off all the new emotions.
For those who aren’t so keen on videos, we are shown a full range – happy and sad, flirty and sad. You can cry in the bath or throw a drink in a lech’s face. Best of all, you can take topless selfies in the mirror – what more could you possibly need?
The really important part is that these aren’t just useless emotions. As I learned during the E3 demo, and you guys got to see afterward, the emotions actually allow Sims to engage in different activities depending on their personality. Got a Sim who is active and loves to workout? When he’s angry he can do furious push ups to help work out the emotions, and get a boost to skill acquisition. I wonder what my seasonally depressed Sim will do when she’s feeling down – could we see some hardcore emotional eating going on? Or what my amorous Sims – will they get slutty when they’re feeling happy, or only when they’re sad?
I’m keen to see how these emotions play out, and it will certainly make the game more realistic. Of course, considering the Sims that Darryn plans to create for us, I think we might see some truly bizarre situations play out.
