Online petitions are generally useless and really don’t get anywhere. And when the petition has a goal to reach only 100 signatures you know it’s pretty pathetic and yet we are still writing about it… so why is that?
Well because it’s hilarious. Normally the GTA V PC petitions are along the lines of begging Rockstar to release the game on PC. In fact there is one exactly like that which has picked up an impressive 339 586 signatories already.
But this one is different. In fact this petition is asking Rockstar to never release the game on PC. And the logical well though out reasoning for this?
So PC Gamers learn their lesson and stop stealing games
With a solid 40 signatures so far it may make it’s goal but really I just find that funny. Will it stop PC piracy? Hell no, but console gamers can still sit smugly in the knowledge that the master race won’t be racing around Los Santos anytime in 2013. unless they play GTA San Andreas, that is.

The PC market dominates in overall game sales. Yeah, there’s piracy, but there’s no substantial proof that it actually has a significant effect on sales. Just because a few thousand people are pirating something, doesn’t mean that those are lost sales, as those might not have ever been sales in the first place.
In fact, some instances of media have greatly benefited from piracy, though I’m not trying to advocate the practice with this statement; just touching on some of the dynamics, here.
After all, GTAV and CoD Ghosts, the two biggest recent releases, were leaked and pirated for the consoles, in relatively large number, before the games were even released. It’s sad when people petition against other gamers, when instead they should be petitioning against the the brand they’re so helplessly loyal to for shitty, anti-consumer practices and such.

So, why do console gamer’s hate PC pirates (and presumably pirates on consoles, but shhh, nobody likes to admit that)? Why? Because developers get screwed out of the money they deserve, right? Bullshit, if that were the case, then the Xbox One DRM everyone just shot down, makes them just as bad as PC Pirates. Why? What do you think Microsoft was trying to do with that DRM? They were trying to bottleneck the used games industry, because used games to a developer, is piracy. Plain and simple. Quibble over it however you want, but the facts are, developers receive nothing from use games sales. And people bitching over PC piracy, who take advantage of the used games markets, do absolutely nothing for developers
If people decrying PC piracy were as noble as they say they are, they would’ve backed the Xbox One’s DRM policy. But, alas, it’s simply about pissing on another platform. There is no moral high-ground here.

Money? Ha. I have none. That’s why Steam is so good cuz the games are so cheap during the holidays. Every idiot out there wants to accuse a PC gamer for being some snobby rich guy. But they are sadly uninformed. Buy a good enough gaming PC for $500. It doesn’t have to be more powerful that the next gen, but around $500 I’m sure it will be on par. That’s the price of the Xbox One. Plus you have the ultimate freedom of using various PC applications when not gaming. This will save you money as you buy your games cheaper on services like Steam. Of course I don’t really care much for selling games, because I really think hard before I waste my money on something I don’t want. I bought a ton of EA games for $5 via the Humble Bundle just the other day. What’s not to like about Deadspace 1 and 3, Mirror’s Edge, the Sims 3 with Late Night, Battlefield 3, and Medal of Honor all for $5? I’m pretty sure there are more games in the bundle.

EA will make a buck wherever they can – that’s all they’re concerned about.
The price difference between PC games and console games actually only appears due to Steam making content easily accessible. Consoles have stuck onto this long trend of proprietary distribution with optical disks.
Don’t get me wrong, but I feel that it’s rather snobby to hate on devs for not supporting certain platforms. Although it’s custom to FIRST support the GENERIC platform, and then proprietary ones, the markets seem to toss in favor of the console market.
And the topic of PCs being full of rich snobby kids – actually the console market is full of rich snobby kids. Any kid who can get a video game console for Christmas, with a bunch of AAA games (thus the over-abundance of 12 year olds on XBL and PSN) obviously lives in a non-technical family.
Any kid worth their own two cents would go and build their own desktop, working for the parts on their own.

Teens / Kids tend to pirate more as they do not have an income sufficent enough to buy a lot of games. And cashing out 60-80$ for a game that you have not been able to try? That’s hard for a lot of people to do. I can admit to having pirated games, only to give them a try though – I have bought every single game that I ever pirated and found worth playing, the others I just uninstall and go on with my day.

I’d reckon in terms of games, console piracy is higher in count. I’ve checked torrent download/seed counts, and it seems that people are less inclined to pirate PC games when they’re more easily obtainable by content providers like Steam.
In terms of general software, PC ofc has the most pirated software.

In terms of rate, for single player games (like Sims 3) – PC. For multiplayer games (battlefield 3), console. Logistics wise, rate doesn’t mean anything for sale perspective.

There’s actually some legal issues with that statement. Of course, right now, it’s true. But just so you know, online content providers and DRM-locking software are not entirely legal – you are supposed to be able to trade your games (or licenses) in some way.

I find it ironic, I mean, I can just as easily pirate an Xbox game as I can a PC game. But I find myself skipping out on games in all aspects when they are released on console only (GTA will be the first exception in a long time), but as long as a game that I am interested in is released for the PC I end up paying for it.

In fact in the country I grew up in console games were only sold as pirated but PC games were only available as original copies. xbox users pirates games alot to matter of fact i have a dvd drive that can burn xgd3 games didnt know i was buying one at the time just a regular dvd drive for my pc. so maybe it shudnt be released at all in that dumb *** logic. everything gets pirated. but of course if rockstar sees any kind of profit they will release it for pc. but if its gona be released on xbone and ps4 then pc will b after that. cus i think the new x86 for the new consoles will make it a bit easier to port it to pc saving them money then it cud to release it for pc.

I would like to be able to purchase the upcoming title but refuse to beg to have it released to pc. Not going to beg a company to take my money…they need my money more than I need their game!!! Ok, so, the fact that I actually had to Crack my GTA IV and Libirty city on the pc because of the secure rom that does not allow you to play your Purchased game is invalid then.. I have Both PC’s and Consoles. Some games I have on Both Platforms, And I always find My self playing the game I have for both platforms on the PC. Why, Because i can add mods’s etc to it, and because so many of these games are just ports, use My xbox controller on the PC in any case.
LOL, looks like the developers live under a brick or not in the real world. Console games gets Pirated, by the day of release, or even before that.
