Dark Souls 2 (7)

Good kids get games such as Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed and Battlefield for Christmas. Bad children get their console locked to only play Dark Souls, while parents laugh at them as they die over and over again. Dark Souls 2 is on the way, and while it may not make it for this Christmas, these screenshots should make a decent stocking filler.

The screenshots above, courtesy of VG247, highlight Covenants, multiplayer modes which allow players to “help, rescue, invade, protect, and take on several positions within the world.” The game is out next year March on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 and will arrive in vanilla, special and collector’s editions.

It’s worth it. Seriously. The sense of accomplishment you get when (finally) getting something right is better than any other game I’ve played recently.

            December 6, 2013 at 09:41

I think you get it at the beginning of the game. It’s not MP like GTAV. You can ‘summon’ your friend to help you on a level. He cannot progress to the next level but does gain experience. When you kill the end boss of a level they vanish, but you can summon them again when you start the next level. ONLY IF it is the same level they have completed though.

If you suck at the game, then yup, you will see the loading screens a lot. But the thing is right, people are like , oh Dark Souls is so hard and it’s all about dying. Well, if they actually learnt from their mistakes and played skillfully , then the true beauty of Dark Souls will come through. Gamers just don’t have the conviction anymore to master a game

Dark Souls isn’t unreasonably hard. If you die it is actually your fault and you can easily overcome a situation with perseverance and skill, traits which modern gaming no longer requires. Also, DS has one of the most amazing story and lore in gaming

Its not unreasonable if you pay attention and learn as you go. Hard yes, but unfair no. Except for that asshole capra demon, no matter how many times i play every time i get to him i will suffer for minimum an hour until that gap appears.

Its amazing, every gamer should at least give it a try. It will obviously not be everyones cuppa tea, but if you are one of those who come to enjoy and are able to play, then it will be one of the most amazing adventures of your gaming memory.

Agreed, it’s just I wish checkpoints were positioned closer to boss battles. It’s time consuming to fight all the monsters to get to the boss. When I got to the final boss in Dark Souls I specked my character for stamina and basically just sprinted past all the monster to get the boss.

Orher than that it’s a one of a kind game along with Demon Souls which was a lot harder to be honest.

you save him by giving humanity to quelaags sister. cant remeber how many or the name of the covenant, but its a lot, i never did it.

if there were checkpoints conveniently placed by all the bosses then you wouldnt be afraid of dieing, and that is part of the tension and fun, that panic that you have to succeed or do it all again.
and besides, once you have done a section a couple times, it becomes a cake walk if you have learnt it and you back at the boss in minutes.

I got demons souls but havent started it yet…

I agree it’s a cakewalk because you know the layout by hand, it’s just time wasting in the end because it’s not like you get enough souls to level up in the latter stages.
