Third Mortal Kombat Movie On The Way

The topic of games based on movies and movies based on games has come up quite a lot in our recent episodes of The Lazygamer Podcast, and that’s mostly because they are not exactly in short supply these days.

The first Mortal Kombat movie was one of the only game to movie adaptations that I have any respect for, if only because above all else, they stuck to what the game was actually about and gave fans exactly what they were looking for.

I don’t even want to mention the second movie, because I think that it may cause me to vomit in my mouth a little bit.

Well, it seems as though the third film is in fact on it’s way. That is, according to Chris Casamassa, the eighth degree black belt who plays Scorpion in all of the films. He says that he will be returning for his role as Scorpion and that filming will begin in September.

Now we all know that this movie has a ton of potential, to be lame that is. I would actually be interested to see if they continue from before, or if they are going to look into a reboot and create something new that may actually impress us.

Don’t hold your breath, although it’s never a bad idea to hold thumbs.

The only way this could work is if the reboot; in a similar manner to the Batman franchise.

Go for a dark, gritty graphic novel sort of style – aim it for a more mature sort of audience, instead of children, like the first movies.

I’m sorry, what was that you just said. I couldn’t hear you over the sound of Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li raping my brain.

I enjoyed the first one, but they should really
stop with the BS now and make it the way it was intended –
    DARK AND VIOLENT!

I dunno…… i think the second one sucked because none of the original cast members returned for the roles. Maybe one or two cant really remember…
