One of the biggest games coming out of E3 and Gamescom this year had to be Titanfall. It’s massive, gorgeous, ridiculously fun and looks set to steal the multiplayer crown away from other shooters when it eventually releases. In fact, this could be the game to finally unseat Call of Duty. But Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampella has a more realistic opinion of how well the game will really do.
Speaking to radio station KFI AM60 via VG247, Zampella explained that Titanfall would not be able to match the sales of the more established Call of Druty franchise, thanks to its new IP status. “You build up momentum over the years when you put out a new brand. It’s starting over, so it won’t sell as well. It’s a new brand,” Zampella said.
But for us it’s kind of a passion project. We love it. It’s something new. It’s taking the old paradigm of these shooter games being very grounded and two-dimensional and now adding this verticality to it and making it something that’s a new experience; something that people haven’t seen before.
Still, I can’t see Titanfall not selling well. It’s looking like a solid game, and I’d bet easy money that it finds a place among the multiplayer crowds when it launches next year on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

Well all I know about clouds is they make my GPS inaccurate. But will the cloud processing be viable in countries like South Africa? How will it handle higher pings from international servers that are supposedly “handling” the AI as well as physics?

Realistic though. Look at sleeping Dogs. SE expected a hell of a lot from it even though it was a ‘new’ ip, it was a great game and did fairly well for a new game, but alas, it was deemed a failure…this is the right outlook

Sleeping Dogs was a great game and for a new IP sold really well…These budgets are insane and they expect too much, and then what could actually grow into a decent franchise get’s shoved to the side because it failed to meet ridiculous expectations…yeah that whatsisface is the same as that whatchamacallit from Capcombie

My bet is that if they can keep momentum going on the franchise, say for another 3 – 4 years or so, they will give CoD a GOOD run for its money. But there is no way a new IP would take on CoD. To me the only game that can do that currently is GTA. BF 4 could also do some damage……
