Tom Clancy’s The Division: New Gameplay Video Shown

Microsoft

The Division was announced last year, a brand new IP that looks like it is set in a sort of post apocalyptic world. Other then a short gameplay demonstration, not much was really shown. How has the game evolved over the last year? Microsoft demonstrate with some brand new gameplay.

It kicks off in a subway station, but it isn’t long before the player surfaces in the almost lifeless city which is covered in snow. It isn’t long before action breaks out, and we get to see some gunplay. The player makes use of an interesting gadget. It looks like one of those little remote controlled helicopters, but it flies towards the enemy and triggers with the same effect as a flash bang grenade. When an enemy is killed, the XP gain is shown just above their head. It will be interesting to see just how the players gets to spend that XP, or what sort of levelling system is implemented.

One thing that stood out last year, and stands out once more this year, is the seamless conversation between your character and your party. It really is executed beautifully, making you almost forget that you are playing a game. Characters react to everything going on around them, commenting and shouting as action takes place.

The game looks really solid, and it looks like it could be a really big contender once its finally released.
