Tomb Raider Trilogy made official even though everyone knew about it already

But shame, let’s not spoil Sony and Square Enix’s fun! Let’s all act surprised just for a moment despite the fact that Amazon let the cat out of the bag a few weeks ago. Still, I would be failing in my duty as “Unofficial HD Re-release Guy” if I didn’t tell you about this. So this is me telling you about this… officially.

The Tomb Raider Trilogy will feature Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb Raider Anniversary and Tomb Raider Underworld all bundled neatly together on a single Blu-ray disk. This is yet another “HD Remake” collection to arrive exclusively to the PlayStation 3. Now before everyone jumps up and down and points out that Legend and Anniversary were already in HD, you’d be wrong! Well, you’d be half wrong.

Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary never saw a PlayStation 3 release; both titles were only ever released as PlayStation 2 games. Both did, however, see Xbox 360 releases with shinier, HD graphics. But for the PS3, this trilogy will mark the first HD outing for Legend and Anniversary; good news then!

Sadly, none of the DLC for Underworld will make it into the Tomb Raider Trilogy so that’s a bit of a downer. Still, all three recent Tomb Raider games crammed onto one disk is sweet-sauce! You can expect to pay around R400 for a triple dose of Lara towards the end of March.

Agreed. It is damn ugly. I’ve yet to see an HD Re-release cover that’s good though. You’d think they’d want to give the editions some class seeing as they’re re-releasing some well respected games.
