Top Gear is returning to Forza Motorsport 6

Top-Gear-cast

The V8 engine may be a roaring beast of controlled explosions and steel that is slowly going extinct as we start focus on preserving our environment, but there’s no such limit for the mighty octane beast when it comes to digital replicas. Cars aren’t just a way to get from point A to point B, they’re a way of life for many.

And for many more of us, that passion for intense speed came as a result of tuning into Top Gear on a weekly basis. While the series has had some, er, issues over the last year that saw its original trio of presenters depart, the show is coming back later this year with a brand new team of hosts that includes Chris Evans (Not the Captain America bloke), Sabine Schmitz, Eddie Jordan, Rory Reif, Matt LeBlanc and Chris Harris. And that Stig fella.

And what better way to celebrate the return of the best motoring show, than with another tam-up with Forza Motorsport? Releasing later today, you’ll be able to pick up a new Top Gear pack of cars in Forza Motorsport 6. Here’s the full press release detailing it, copied and pasted below while I try and get the Stig to hand me back my golden cock:

Forza-6

Releasing today, the Top Gear Car Pack for “Forza Motorsport 6” builds on the tradition of amazing Top Gear content in the “Forza Motorsport” franchise, bringing seven brand new cars exclusively to the game. As the BBC prepares the next season of the legendary television series debuting in May, we’re

giving fans a taste of what to expect in the form of seven awesome new rides, all hand-picked by the editors at Top Gear. Whether it’s a limited production car, the latest top-of-the-line series, or simply preposterous horsepower numbers, the cars of the Top Gear Car Pack all offer something special. In addition to the cars themselves, we’re also kicking off a new series of Top Gear Rivals events where players will be able to challenge one another and Top Gear editors to see who knows these cars best.

For the next three months, look for new Top Gear events each month in the Community Monthly channels of Rivals in “Forza Motorsport 6.”

For their first debacle, they got ken block to drive said moron around the cenotaph, a British memorial to fallen soldiers, naturally everyone in the press made a mess of it, so they had to cut the footage from their show… What a great start…

its a controversial pick. thats the entire idea.
but hes not a journalist, not a personality, hes an actor, the parts where he’s not scripted are painfull to watch.

being controversial and inappropriate is what made Clarkson so appealing.
although to be fair, its also what got him fired.

wanting some of that back was probably their goal with this. but people are keeping such a close eye on this, waiting for them to fail, that they just cant afford to. not yet atleast.

          • Hammersteyn

            April 6, 2016 at 11:06

This is true, but Clarkson built his reputation so that people expect him to be controversial and see it as comedy

Me too man, they made the show a success, these new presenters, bar sabine, never earned the success, they are merely adopting it, with the hopes of it lasting just long enough for them to cash in…
On the other hand though, the Amazon show is doing brilliantly, which means our favourite three presenters should return true to form soon, very soon…

Chris Harris is actually pretty legit, Ive been following him since the old top gear crew said their goodbyes, saying he hasnt earned his success is a bit of a slap in the face.
Hes a really good reviewer and a really good driver

And i mean, he did manage to get a P1, 918 and la ferrari on the track at the same time, even if it was only for his youtube channel.

Yeah, it’s shocking that negative comments are flying at the new Top Gear team when Matt himself is an avid car nut and racer, Eddie ran a successful F1 team at the time, Sabine speaks for herself on track and Chris Evans who put the reality in British TV in the 90s. Chris Harris is a one-man Top Gear of YouTube.

Its only natural that there would be skepticism regarding the new lineup, the whole clarkson debacle and how established and successful the old lineup was.

I for one am concerned, but im not expecting the top gear that we know.

          • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

            April 6, 2016 at 13:28

As much as this is true, this should be a unique show, if they are going to go for the old Top Gear feel (pre Clarkson) they will undoubtedly fail, it is the reason that Clarkson was introduced as a producer, if they try to do the same thing the American Top Gear did, which is mimic the formula for the ClarkMayHam show, then they will also fail, firstly because they’re way too many people and secondly because those three morons are bloody good at entertaining people, way before they get to even test a vehicle, the balance between entertainment and actual valuable information leaned heavily (as in the scale would be toppling) toward the entertainment side. Now there’s nothing wrong with doing that, but when you do any form of production, especially in a 52 minute show, you have to make place for each of those celebrities/journalists, that or you feature maybe 3 to 4 of them in a single episode with the next bunch going up the following episode, which then also makes each one of those journalists rather expensive per view…

But, I don’t want to get ahead of myself, so I’ll watch both shows and draw a comparison as to whether I like it or not…

          • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

            April 6, 2016 at 09:58

He is a bloody good reviewer, but from what I’ve seen so far, it seems they’re plonking him in the boot and calling it a drive along, he is damned good at reviewing cars, going into depth, sometimes even evaluataing drive-trains and gearboxes, I have massive respect for him, don’t get me wrong, I’m worried about the other guys…

            April 6, 2016 at 10:03

Im holding out hope that it wont be terrible, but im not expecting old top gear.
Clarkson made the show what it was before, i want the new producers to make it something new.

          • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

            April 6, 2016 at 10:22

That’s my exact fear, that they’ll try what the Muricans’ did with theirs, for instance, Tanner Faust is even better versed at driving than Mr. Harris, but the other two clowns were trying way too hard to make it the TG trio, like I say, I want to see what they allow Sabine to get up to, her and Chris Harris, I’m not much interested in the rest…

          • Matthew Holliday

            April 6, 2016 at 10:40

aye, top gear America could have been good if it was its own show. And if the characters had more character.
Tanner is a quality competition driver who should always win at everything, yet he doesnt and is about as charismatic as a wood louse, especially with the popularity that Ken Block is monopolizing atm, it just ruins his relevance.

for the new lineup though, I like Chris Evans, hes fun and is a good journalist, understands how to lead a show and his Ferrari collection is >>
but Sabine I find boring, even if she is a good driver. her previous appearances on Top Gear episodes relied heavily on Clarksons humour, Im not sure Evans can provide the same platform for her. But Im hopeful.
Matt Leblanc Im skeptical about, I find him to be a boring tool, but he is an actor and Top Gear is ultimately, scripted, so Im hopeful his character will be less of a boring tool who relies on “but in America…” jokes
Harris is as technical as it gets, I almost understand his monologues about car setup and drivetrains etc. and his driving style is just a better and smaller version of Clarkson.

No idea who the other 2 are.

The only thing we can really do is wait and see what comes out of all of this, at least now, we have 5th gear, Top Gear and the new HamClarkSlow to look forward too, which is more than we had a few years back…

I’m not sure hey, apparently they have 25 seasons of it already, where 23 aired back in 2013, so maybe, but Tiff Needll was the adopted Stig of that series, that guy must be fun to drive with!
