Unreal Engine 2009 Features

We saw some screenshots earlier of the new CryEngine’s output but that wasn’t the only engine unveiled at GDC this year.

Epic have shown off their latest version of the famous Unreal Engine and while I don’t get most of it, it does make the development of awesome 3D games look pretty easy.

I really wish I could do this sort of development for a living, it must be an awesome experience to play a game that you made.

It seems to me like most of the changes that have been made are geared towards mod and developement functionality, rather than actual aesthetic changes to the engine like we saw before Gears 2 came out.

Not a bad thing at all though, it means that better mods can be made and developers can also make even better games with it. Let’s see how it stacks up to the CryEngine 3 in future though.
