Eliot Spitzer

So as the title goes… Who said the following (and not it isn’t Jack Thompson)?

We must do more to protect our children from excessive sex and violence in the media… Media content has gotten more graphic, more violent and more sex-based…

Yeah  just another two bit politician trying to get famous from attacking video games, but why should this be of interest to us?

Well this particular two bit politician is called Eliot Spitzer and he has recently found himself in a spot of bother.

It seems the FBI were tipped off about a side of Spitzer that he didn’t want us to know, they tapped his phone and caught him organising to have a prostitute posted sent from New York to Washington where he was currently on business.

What Spitzer should possibly have known is that firstly prostitution is illegal in America and secondly it is specifically prohibited to move someone across state lines for the purpose of prostitution. So his misdemeanour prostitution charge has now become a felony charge…

Maybe he should have stuck to gaming, as he continues to rabble on about it

a game like Grand Theft Auto, which rewards a player for stealing cars and beating people up. Children can even simulate having sex with a prostitute…

Yeah Spitzer, while the morals of the GTA series are free to be debated, your morals for organising a prostitute to travel with you on business while your wife and kids stay at home are not.

At least he had the good grace to quit.
    Kotaku puts it succintly :

“…the Governor has thrown in the towel, explaining that everyone must take responsibility for their conduct. I’m wondering if that includes children negatively influenced by violent video games?”
